Import bank statements

Upload the bank statement or a payment receipt in Banking → Statement Imports; Tario reads it (with AI when needed), checks the balance and lets you review, retry, commit or roll back the import.

If you are not signed in, Tario asks you to log in and opens your current company.

Steps

  1. In Banking → Statement Imports, under Upload bank statement, drop one or more files on Statement or receipt file. Bank account stays on Detect automatically: Tario reads the bank, the IBAN or account number (full or masked) and the currency from the statement and files it on its own; you can still pick the account yourself. PDF, PNG, JPG, JPEG, XLSX, XLS, CSV, TXT, OFX and QIF files up to 15 MB are accepted.

  2. OFX, QIF and CSV files with standard columns are read directly; PDFs, images, Excel sheets and other formats are read by AI. The import goes through Uploaded, Parsing and Parsed, and ends up Ready to commit, Needs review or Failed in the Import history.

  3. If several accounts match, the import waits in Waiting for the account with Choose this statement's account and the candidates preselected: confirm with Use this account. If none matches, Create account creates it in one click from the bank, number and currency read (depository type). Accounts assigned on their own show Detected automatically.

  4. Every file shows What Tario understood: the bank, the account and IBAN masked (last 4 digits only), the currency, the period, the number of movements and the closing balance, and what it did with them. While it is processed you see the live step (Queued…, Reading the file…, Looking for the account…, Preparing suggestions…); when done, the outcome in words: Assigned to Account X (the IBAN •••• 1234 matches), Which of your accounts is it? with one button per candidate, You have no account with •••• 1234 at BAC Credomatic with Create account, or We did not find the account number in the file with what was read. How Tario read it tells where each detail came from (header, text, file name, AI reading).

  5. Above the history, What Tario understood from your upload sums up each upload in one or two sentences (for example how many statements, from which bank and currency, which account each goes to) and offers Create it? Create … for the accounts you do not have. With AI credits the AI phrases it from those details (never from the movements); without credits or with the automation off it is built from a template.

  6. When you create or choose the account of one statement, the other statements of that same account that were waiting are assigned too. To let Tario create the account without asking, turn on Create detected bank accounts automatically in Settings → Automation → Reconciliation: it only does so when the statement shows a full IBAN or number and you have no other account at the same bank and currency.

  7. When it finishes, the import card sums up N reconciled automatically · M suggested · K without a suggestion; Review suggestions opens Reconciliation filtered on those lines.

  8. Use Review import to open the detail: the validation panel shows Parser, Balance, Line decisions and Commit readiness, and the lines can be filtered by All lines, Auto-matched, Suggested, Needs categorization and Rules applied.

  9. If you see Balance gap of :amount, the statement's ending balance does not match the sum of the lines read. Add the missing line with Add missing line in Reconciliation or, if the gap is correct, use Accept gap with reason and fill in the Reason for accepting the balance gap.

  10. If parsing failed or came out incomplete, use Retry parsing; if you uploaded the wrong file, Delete import removes it together with its lines.

  11. Decide each line in Reconciliation and, once the import is Ready to commit, use Commit import: Tario records the payments linked to invoices and bills and the new transactions.

  12. If you committed something by mistake, Rollback import undoes the accounting activity created by that import.

Tips

  • You can upload several months of one account at once; Tario only refuses statements whose period overlaps another open import of that account.
  • Tario detects the same file uploaded twice and rejects it, so you do not duplicate movements.
  • Tario compares the IBAN and the full number, the "cuenta cliente" inside the IBAN, and also the last 4 digits: if you stored only "3421" or the local number, it still recognises it. Store the number or IBAN in Bank accounts so detection is automatic.
