Estimates: create, send and convert into an invoice

An estimate is a proposal with no fiscal effect: you send it to the client, mark whether it is accepted or declined, and an accepted one becomes an invoice without retyping lines.

If you are not signed in, Tario asks you to log in and opens your current company.

Steps

  1. In Sales → Estimates click New estimate: Client, Reference, Estimate date, Expiration date and Currency.

  2. Add lines with Add line (Product, Description, Quantity, Unit price, taxes and discounts) and the PDF's Terms and Footer. Save with Save estimate; it stays in Draft.

  3. When it is ready, use Approve: it moves to Unsent and can be sent.

  4. Use Email estimate to e-mail it with the PDF, or Mark sent if you delivered it another way. It becomes Sent (and Viewed when the client opens it).

  5. Depending on the client's answer, use Accept or Decline. If the expiration date passes without an answer, it becomes Expired.

  6. On an Accepted estimate click Convert to invoice: Tario creates a draft invoice with the same lines and takes you to Invoices to review and issue it. The estimate becomes Converted.

  7. Invoices created from the estimate appear under Associated invoices; Associate invoice links one you made separately.

Tips

  • An estimate does not go to Hacienda or touch accounting; the fiscal document is the invoice that comes from converting it.
  • Import estimates creates several at once from CSV or Excel.
