Locations, location types and statuses

Locations are the places where stock lives (warehouses, shops, vehicles, job sites); types group them and statuses describe items, locations and assignments.

If you are not signed in, Tario asks you to log in and opens your current company.

Steps

  1. Define the Location Types first: for example warehouse, shop, vehicle or job site, each with a Default status that new locations inherit.

  2. Under Inventory → Locations create every place where stock lives: Name, Location type, Location role (Warehouse, Project / job site, Workshop, Supplier, Truck or Disposal area) and, to nest zones or shelves, the Parent location.

  3. Assign a Responsible employee, the address and phone; for job sites you can record start and end dates and the CFIA code. Keep Active on so it shows in movements.

  4. Under Settings → General choose the Default inventory location: bills with inventory products arrive there and invoices issue from there, unless the POS says otherwise.

  5. Statuses are catalogs with a Name and Color of three types: Item status, Location status and Assignment status. Define the ones you use (for example one for equipment in good condition and one for damaged) and assign them on each record.

  6. A location type in use cannot be deleted, and neither can a location with stock or sub-locations: transfer or adjust the stock first, or turn Active off to retire it without deleting it.

Tips

  • A location with the Project / job site role has its own Project inventory costs report: materials consumed and equipment usage per week.
